Senior Tutor – Interior Design School! Up to £30k

An amazing position for a Senior Tutor on the Blended Learning team has occurred to join this high profile design school in the cool and trendy Chelsea Harbour area of London. With a prestigious teaching fraternity and an exciting range of courses within both Interior and Garden Design, our Client has earned an enviable reputation for their unique style and creative flair alongside an immensely friendly, fun and supportive culture.

The Senior Tutor role is a management position, overseeing the delivery of academic material to blended learning diploma courses and assisting in guiding other members of staff in the performance of their roles. They will plan and execute delivery of the core syllabus and oversee the delivery of academic instruction. Good communication skills and a solid background in Interior Design are absolutely necessary as responsibilities include preparation of projects, marking of projects and delivery of tuition. The Senior Tutor also has responsibility for overseeing the school’s communication with students.

On a daily basis, the Senior Tutor will assist the course Director with strategic course planning & development, including the advancement of new courses. They will deliver the syllabus to all students and assist the Course Manager with their responsibilities for the smooth day-to-day running of the course. They will be involved with course admin when necessary including: updating of timetables and other course materials, writing reports, and assisting in the maintenance of online resources. They will participate in Student Rep feedback meetings, and deliver a recorded response to the groups.

The teaching element of this role will excitingly be very varied and no two days will be the same! You will work online responding to student queries, managing the course inbox and delegating e-mails between the team. At workshops, you will act as lead lecturer or assistant tutor in class, when required. You will produce lesson plans, prepare new lectures, update existing lectures, take one-on-one surgeries and plan seminars to support the delivery of the syllabus. You will prepare teaching support material and lead lecturing, when required so previous experience in a similar role is absolutely essential. You will provide overflow tutoring on surgery bookings and take portfolio surgeries. You will source and prepare projects, plan marking sheets and write timetables. You will work closely with course tutors to assist them with the marking of projects and oversee feedback sessions to students.

You will also provide academic support to the students, by phone, email and in person. You will maintain regular contact with groups and provide careers advice so you will be friendly and approachable. You will be a true ‘people person’ and will enjoy nurturing students’ personal and academic development.

The successful candidate will have a minimum Diploma qualification plus some strong experience working in the industry as lead teaching is required at all levels. Proven previous experience within a similar role would be highly valuable. You will occasionally be required to attend Open Evenings, Exhibitions and some Saturday workshops, so some flexibility is required.

Based in trendy offices in West London, my client is an internationally successful and rapidly expanding business in the Beauty industry. They pride themselves on first class customer service and are looking for a candidate who is equally passionate about customer care to join their thriving team!

The perfect candidate will have at least one years strong previous experience in a customer service focused role. Ideally, you will have worked in a call center or similar and be extremely confident communicating on the telephone. You will be a natural relationship builder with charisma and enthusiasm. Although you will be provided with technical training, you must be a fast learner and be able to hit the ground running. You will have the ability to deal with a high volume of calls daily, keep calm under pressure and most importantly have the ability to communicate well at all levels. Ideally, you will also have some experience of working for a beauty or luxury brand.
