With just days to go until Hatty Blue’s first ever Christmas party, the team have compiled a handy list of the ‘Do’s and Don’ts’ for the busiest party week ahead…

1) DO show up – it’s the right thing to do.
2) DO check that the rest of the team will be dressing up before arriving in the lurid green elf’s outfit…
3) DON’T assume that your other half is invited – make sure you consult the invite before dragging them along in a pair of felt reindeer antlers.
4) DON’T get too carried away with the free bar – alternating between soft and alcoholic drinks is sensible, vomiting over those lurid green tights is not.
5) DO stay away from photocopiers after a few too many…
6) DO assume that you are being watched every second – the next day at work won’t be much fun if girls are gossiping in the loos about you, especially if you hear them…
7) DO try and mingle with people in the office that you wouldn’t usually chat to – it’s a great way to boost your profile in the office.
8) DON’T call in sick the next day – and definitely DON’T update your Facebook status about what a wonderful day you’ve had Christmas shopping.

We have a fabulous new job to tell you about – have a read below and let us know if you are interested by emailing hello@hattyblue.co.uk.

With 2009 edging ever closer and lots of exciting new clients, Hatty Blue is also keen to extend our temping database. If you would like to temp, please email hello@hattyblue.co.uk with your CV asap.

Take a step into Hatty Blue’s Office and you won’t be in any doubt that it’s December. The team arrived early this morning to turn the place into a winter wonderland and are now feeling really rather festive. An advent calendar – a fond relic from Jo’s childhood – now hangs on the wall. A nativity scene – borrowed from Shiv’s family home – sits proudly on the windowsill. A delicious cinnamon-spice candle – donated by Bubs to the festive mix – is creating a lovely warming glow. You’ll be pleased to hear that we’re holding off playing Christmas music, eating mince pies, and donning our jingle-bell earrings… but it’s only a matter of time.

We also want to wish one of Hatty’s best friends Vanessa a huge congratulations for her engagement in Kenya this morning. We’re looking forward to our first Hatty wedding and will be suggesting purple and pink for the bridesmaid dresses…

We've posted two new jobs below. If you think you're the perfect person for the job, email your CV to hello@hattyblue.co.uk.

Feeling stressed? According to magazine Recruitment Matters, you are not alone. More than 13 million days a year are lost to work-related stress - that's more than those taken off for the common cold!

The magazine has compiled a list of top tips for staying calm and in control. The Hatty Blue team will be taking deep breaths and scanning their eyes over the list whenever the pressure hots up over the coming months...

1) Confront problems and unpleasant issues. Every 'live' problem at the back of your mind is a drain on your energies.

2) Be realistic. Accept challenges that are exciting and constructive - not those that are impossible - and practice saying no without feeling guilty.

3) Delegate/Prioritise. Delegate work that doesn't require your direct personal involvement and shelve work that can't be done now.

4) Accept occasional failure. See it as an inevitable, positive opportunity for developing, rather than a personal reflection on you.

5) Express your feelings. Let people know how their actions and decisions affect you, and how that makes you feel. Ask for help, avoid unnecessary conflict and look for win-win situations

6) Adopt a healthy lifestyle. A good diet, regular exercise and getting adequate rest means your body is better able to cope with stress should it occur. Avoid alcohol, nicotine and caffeine.

Feeling the pinch? This week, Hatty Blue has teamed up with beauty website The-Beauty-Pages.com to give top tips for looking fabulous during the credit crunch.

1) Look out for budget ranges that have been designed by top industry experts. Tesco’s Skin Wisdom range was created by expert Bharti Vyas and is widely regarded by beauty journalists as being one of the best on the market. Better still, prices start at just £1.99, from Tesco Stores nationwide.

2) Save yourself a fortune by customising last year’s winter coat. Belt it with a wide patent belt, pin on a handful of glitzy brooches, or sew an uber-stylish lace trim to the collar.

3) Fill your dressing table with fabulous multi-purpose products. Treat yourself to NEOM Organic Beauty Balm, £12, which will soften even the driest patches of skin, plus act as an intensive lipbalm and cuticle cream.

4) Invite a gaggle of like-sized friends to join you for a swapping party. Each guest should arrive with a bag full of clothes that they no longer wear, which they can then swap for other guests’ cast-offs, and leave with a whole new wardrobe. Visit http://www.whatsmineisyours.com for inspiration.

5) You don’t have to spend a huge amount on Christmas presents to make a big impression. The stunning packaging at beauty boutique B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful gives the products the look of something ten times the price tag. Prices start at just £4.

6) Visit a discount outlet. The best in the UK is Bicester Village, which offers huge discounts on brands from Burberry to Molton Brown. Plan you spree at www.bicestervillage.com.

Hatty Blue still has a flood of brilliant jobs coming in, so please do get in touch if you are looking for a change. Don't feel daunted by what is happening in the financial world - for Hatty Blue, business is very much as usual.

It's been an active week in the Hatty Blue Office. Jo, Siobhan, and Louise have signed up to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October and have been stepping up their training. They are both aching this morning from a 5km run on Sunday afternoon - an impressive feat considering they'd both rather be curled up on the sofa with a cup of hot chocolate and an old film on the TV...

The girls are running to raise money for the charity Access Sport, which exists to encourage youth participation in sport. They'll be looking for sponsorship nearer the time, but if you'd like to find out more about the charity, log onto www.accesssport.co.uk

We've got some brilliant new jobs to tell you about - email your CV to hello@hattyblue.co.uk if something takes your fancy. We'd also love to hear from you if you'd like to temp for Hatty's team, so make sure you get your CV and availability over the office asap.

This means that, from as early as April 2010, temps will have the right to the same pay as an equivalent permanent workers. This should kick in after 12 weeks of an assignment. Great news for Hatty's temping team.
